Former French President Jacques Chirac has died at the age of 86.
His son-in-law says he passed away peacefully and "among his loved ones" - but hasn't given a cause of death.
Mr Chirac's presidency ran from 1995 until 2007.
He was the country's first leader to acknowledge France's role in the Holocaust - and defiantly opposed the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
