Fine Gael's Dara Murphy was in Leinster House last night to vote confidence in Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy.
It was his last act as a TD, handing his resignation letter to the Leas Ceann Comhairle after that vote.
Murphy said he will co-operate with any procedure investigating him, after requests for the members' interests committee to examine his expenses.
The Cork north Central representative had been claiming full expenses, despite having a second job in Brussels, and rarely being in Leinster House.
