Michael Fassbender and U2 have gotten the nod for an Oscar.
U2 are shortlisted in the original song category for "Ordinary Love" - while Kerryman Fassbender is nominated for best supporting actor for 12 Years a Slave.
The Deputy principal of Fossa National School, Linda OÂ’Donoghue taught Michael in fourth class in the 1980's.
Speaking to Radio Kerry, she says the community is proud of him and his achievements.
