Fake tan is the most shoplifted item in pharmacies.
The Irish Pharmacy Union says it is most commonly stolen item (50%) along with other cosmetics and perfume.
Meanwhile, the IPU's new research shows three quarters of chemists have been targeted by thieves in the last year.
Almost two in ten of them had controlled or other prescription medication stolen.
President of the IPU, Daragh Connolly, says the reporting of crimes against pharmacies to the Gardaí is declining.
He's said “Only 68% of pharmacies who were victims of crime last year reported those crimes to the Gardaí".
That's a decline of from 73% the previous year.
