Met Éireann has issued a rain and wind warning for the western half of the country for the next two days as forecasters keep a close eye on Hurricane Nigel.
The forecaster is warning of potential localised flooding and travel disruption over the coming days.
A Status Yellow Wind warning will come into effect for West Galway and Kerry from 5pm until 5am tomorrow, while a status Yellow Rain warning will be active from 5pm for almost all of Munster and Connacht as well as Donegal and Cavan.

Met Éireann are forecasting persistent and heavy rain especially on higher ground with the potential for localised flooding and travel disruption.
A Yellow Wind Warning for Cork, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow is active from midnight tonight until 6am Wednesday- road users are being urged to expect difficult driving conditions and debris such as fallen branches on the road.
Hurricane Nigel is tracking towards Ireland from the Atlantic but will rapidly lose power as it approaches the country on Saturday.
It’s still too soon to say for definite if the ex-hurricane will pass over Ireland, however models suggest there is a chance it will continue to move north towards Iceland. More will be known on it’s predicted path in the coming days.
