Everyone over 60 is expected to be offered the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The news comes as the National Immunisation Advisory Committee meets today to consider how the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be used in Ireland.
The meeting follows the EMA's advice that there's a possible link between the one-shot jab and rare blood clotting.
However, officials and regulators have insisted the benefits still outweigh the risks.
