A series of events  series of events in Dublin today to mark the end of the bailout.

The deal officially expires on Sunday but today is the last day of business.

A series of events will be held throughout the day to mark the official end of the bailout, before Enda Kenny addresses the nation on Sunday.

The government has been inundated with requests for interviews with the international media as Ireland exits the bailout.

Authorities in Europe are keen to put across the idea that Ireland is the poster child for European austerity - making tough but firm budget choices to revive the economy and get people back to work.

The government itself is running a series of press events to put forward the image that Ireland is now once again standing on its own two feet.

Ministers Michael Noonan and Brendna Howlin will hold a press conference later this morning, when they may outline details of the government's medium-term planning for life after the bailout.

They'll tee up Sunday as a major milestone in Ireland's economic recovery, which will be marked with a live TV address by the taoiseach Enda Kenny.
