A number of homes are being evacuated in County Clare, as stormy conditions continue across the country. Gales and heavy rain are expected for much of today, with tidal flooding causing problems in parts of the west and south.
With high tide, the River Lee again burst its banks in places but not to the same extent as last night. Cork City Council says the risk of tidal flooding remains for a number of days, with the next high tide due at 7pm.
In Clare, residents on the Promenade and at Golf Links Road in Lahinch were being advised to leave due to flooding. In Galway, AA Roadwatch is advising motorists to avoid all coastal areas, with reports that there is a bus stuck on the Coast Rd from Oranmore into the city. In Belfast, police are telling people to prepare to evacuate in areas of the city if - as forecast - there's a tidal surge.
