EU foreign ministers have officially condemned the Egyptian military for its tactics in dealing with Islamic protestors.
Ministers holding an emergency meeting in Brussels decided to suspend the export of military weapons to Egypt.
The EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton said the tactics used by the military last week, which left nearly a thousand anti-military protestors dead, were unacceptable.
Ashton also said ministers were concerned about attacks on Coptic Christian churches and on mosques.
