Unions at ESB have called on the government not to comment on the possible industrial action at the company.
Strike notice will be served on the ESB later and a disputes committee has been set up to manage the industrial action.
Both sides met yesterday in an effort to resolve the row over the workers pension - further talks are due to take place.
In a note to its members this morning the Group of Unions says there will be no further comment and said it would be helpful if the Government adopted a similar stance.
The memo which is signed by Brendan Ogle says continued wrong and misleading comments from government can only undermine and call in to question the now continuing dialogue.
