The ESB is to repay every household in Ireland after accidentally overcharging them for more than a decade.
An Oireachtas Committee heard on Tuesday the ESB misapplied a support measure for 1,500 of the largest power consumers in Ireland.
This saw households being penalised with higher bills over a 12-year period.
In a statement, ESB said:
"ESB Networks identified this issue and has been engaging with the CRU for some time.
"We are continuing to engage with CRU to finalise the rebalancing of the relevant tariffs, which will require CRU approval in due course.
"While the process and mechanism of the rebalancing is still to be determined with the CRU, ESB Networks anticipates that it will result in the reduction of a domestic electricity bill in the order of €50 in total.
"As mentioned by the CRU before the Oireachtas Committee this morning, ESB Networks did not benefit from this."
It's unknown how this rebate of €50 will be given to each household.
