Energy Credits Only To Be Applied To Electricity Used From December
The utilities watchdog says all electricity customers will get a 150 euro credit by the new year.
The government announced a series of electricity credits as part the Budget, amounting to €450, to be paid between December and May of 2024.
However, the credit only applies for electricity consumed from the start of December.
The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities says "The payment periods were set out by Government legislation and this is the period during which the credit will be applied to a customer account.
"However, the credit may not appear on a bill during those payment periods as this depends on the billing cycle of the individual customer but should be applied to their account.
"The timing of when a customer sees the credits on their actual bills will depend on the timing of each customers billing cycle.
"For example, if you received a bill in November 2023 then your next bill will be due in January 2024 (assuming they are billed bi-monthly), the first credit should show on the January bill. For this reason, some customers, who do not receive a bill in December, may find more than one credit may appear on a bill in January."
