Employees across Ireland will be entitled to 10 days of sick pay from 2025.
Cabinet Ministers approved the plans this morning.
The measures will be phased in over the next four years to give employers time to prepare.
The entitlement to leave will phase in from next year and will be capped at 70% of someone's wages or up to 110 euro a day.
The figure is based on 70% of someone on a salary of almost €41,000 a year.
It's estimated that around half of employers in Ireland do not provide sick pay.
