New figures show around 244 people emigrated from Ireland each day between April 2012 and April 2013.
The Central Statistics Office says 89,000 left the country during the 12 month period, a rise of 2.2%.
The level of immigration into Ireland increased by 6%, to 55,900 in the year to the end of April.
Over 200,000 Irish nationals alone have left the country since 2008, but more than 120,000 have returned.
