A man’s body has been found in “unexplained circumstances” on the side of the road in County Meath.
The body was found on the N51 in Harmanstown, Slane in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí say the man was travelling in the direction of Slane on an electric scooter and they are the treating the death as a possible hit and run.
Emergency service arrived on scene at around 2:50am. The man was treated by ambulance services but was later pronounced dead.
The road remains closed ahead of a technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who were in the area between 1:30am and 3am and may have camera footage.
