Electric Ireland Announce Drop In Energy Prices
Electric Ireland is reducing its prices for the third time in the past 12 months.
This price drop will come into effect in November and impacts over one million customers.
Prices will decreased by 3% to 5% depending on customers plans, and amounts to savings of between €40 to €85 per year.
In a significant move, Electric Ireland has also announced it's not going to pass on planned increases which are due for all electricity suppliers next month.
The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities recently approved a yearly rise of €100 in household electricity bills to improve and develop the grid.
But Electric Ireland says it's not going to pass that on to homes - which puts pressure on other companies to follow suit.
