Members of the Defence Forces will see their take-home earnings go up, after the government announced it's introducing a 10 million euro increase in allowances.
Military-service allowances will increase by 10 per cent, along with the restoration of premium weekend rates and duty allowances, in an effort to address the volume of members leaving the military.
Despite several recruitment campaigns, numbers in the Defence Forces are still at least 1,000 off full strength.
Paul Kehoe, Minister of State at the Department of Defence, says the allowances changes are separate to pay increases due later this year.
