Dublin has been voted the 7th best city in the world to visit by Lonely Planet.
The travel guide described the capital as one of Europe's most down-to-earth and friendly cities.

The friendliness and warmth of people in Dublin along with its Georgian squares and traditional pubs earned the capital the 7th spot.
Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, Niall Gibbons, says the vibrancy and "Georgian feel" of Dublin is a hit with tourists.

"[The ranking] really bodes well in our efforts to establish tourism as the biggest employer in Ireland in 2022."
Aukland, New Zealand claimed the top spot, Taipei in Taiwan and Freigburg in Germany.
Atlanta in the States , Lagos in Nigeria, Nicosia/Lefkosia of Cyprus, Merida in Mexico, Florence in Italy and Gyeongju in South Korea filled out the top 10.
