Reduced operating hours for lights and the use of vegetable oil generators are both on the cards for Dublin this Christmas.
They're among efforts being made to cut costs and carbon, under the four council's 'Winter Lights Initiative'.

According to the Irish Times, lighting on some public buildings and bridges will be operated using hydro-treated vegetable oil generators.
While Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown council will be using timers for their lighting displays.
