Search and rescue services will continue to operate at sea this weekend despite dozens of Coast Guard boats being out of action.
They were grounded after concerns were raised about volunteers' life-jackets following routine safety checks.
Boats in 23 locations have been affected but the Irish Coast Guard's shoreline and cliff rescue services remain in operation along with its four rescue helicopters.
Irish Coast Guard Operations Manager Gerard O'Flynn says safety comes first, and they've made sure cover will be maintained.
He says they consulted with all key agencies, especially the RNLI. He added that they are "actively managing the situation" and liaising closely with other search and rescue providers.
The Irish Coast Guard said it is confident the issue can be resolved quickly.
