Donegal has been ranked as the 4th best region to visit in the world.
The accolade from the travel guide Lonely Planet praises the county's 100 plus beaches, wild landscapes, ancient forts, vibrant musical traditions and friendly atmosphere as being among the reasons to visit Donegal.
It's the only destination in Ireland to make the cut for Lonely Planet this year.
The travel guide describes Donegal as being "purely wild with a big heart".
Lonely Planet highlights how Donegal has the the longest coastline in Ireland and says "you may find themselves as the only person on a deserted strand in Donegal".
Visitors are also told about "unspoilt coastal hiking trails along the Wild Atlantic Way", and the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
