Donegal's county councillors are set to be fired from midnight tonight.
The 29 councillors are still in talks to agree a council budget for 2014 - but it seems no deal will be reached.
If they don't agree a budget by midnight, councillors will be fired and their jobs taken over by a government nominee.
The main issue at the centre of the impasse is the fact that the council is not being compensated for transferring its water network - said to be worth over €300 million - to the new Irish Water agency.
Councillor Seamus Ó Domhnaill says his party's 11 councillors won't accept a deal that doesn't fund local services:
The budget is also being opposed by Sinn Féin, whose four councillors - in addition to Fianna Fáil's 11 - are enough to block the proposals from the council management.
