Disposable Vapes, Scallions & Air Fryers Will Now Help To Calculate Inflation
Disposable vapes, smartwatches, gin and air fryers are among the items added to the CSO's list to calculate the cost of living.
For the first time in eight years the Central Statistics Office updated the list in the National Basket of Goods and Services which is used to measure the rate of inflation.
Some of the items which have been taken out of the items to measure the rise in prices is nightclubs, digital cameraas, telephones and swiss rolls.
Other pieces added include scallions, rib-eye steak, delivery charges as well as milk and meat subsitututes.
The last basket in 2016 saw TV streaming services, e-cigarettes and craft beer added, while sherry, shoe polish and clock radios were taken out.
