Dingle in Co Kerry will spend next Sunday, October 17, remembering one of its most remarkable citizens.
Fungie the friendly dolphin became synonymous with the town after spending 37 years in the bay, entertaining tourists and locals alike.

To mark the dolphin's contribution to the town, local fishermen are offering free boat trips on "Fungie Day".
Visitors are asked to make a small contribution to the Dingle Coast and Rescue and Mallow Search and Rescue for their trip.
Organisers says the day will be seen as a mark of gratitude, for Fungie who was massive tourist attraction for decades.
The dolpin vanished last October from, and despite a massive search operation has never been spotted again.
