Households will likely to see another energy credit paid out before Christmas, with two more to follow in the new year.
Three energy credit payments, worth €200 each, were announced last week as part of Budget 2023.
Government ministers are this morning discussing how to best implement the €600 credit to help households with rising gas and electricity bills.
Question marks remain over how the credit will work for pre-pay customers, to ensure they're not cut off this winter.
Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath, says the Minister for the Environment, Eamon Ryan, will reveal details of the €600 energy credit.
Minister McGrath says he expects the the three energy credits will be issued in a similar way to the €200 credit that was paid out to households earlier in the summer.
