The Department of Social Protection has warned of a new covid-19 payment scam.
It says some people have got texts from an unknown number telling them that they are entitled to the Covid-19 payment.
The message asks them to click on a link to "socialwelfareireland", where they are then asked to provide their banking details.
The Department is aware that some people have received fraudulent texts stating they're entitled to a #COVID19 Payment.
These texts are not from the Department. Please do not click on the link or reply to the text.

It wants to make clear that it will never ask for banking details via phone or social media.
Anyone who thinks they have handed over their personal information to the fraudsters should contact their bank immediately.
