The Dáil will host its first ever Youth Assembly today focussing on the climate crisis.
The event is also part of the 100th anniversary of the parliament.
Later this morning the Dáil will host 157 young people between the ages of 10 and 17 to discuss climate issues facing Ireland.
The young delegates attending today's sitting represent all 26 counties
The meeting comes after a survey this week found 88 percent of Irish people believe the earth is getting warmer as a result of climate disruption while 17 percent of young people questioned between the ages of 18 and 34 say they would be willing to switch to a plant-based died to help
Today's proceedings will be overseen by the Ceann Comhairle Séan O Fearghail as would be the case if it was a regular Dáil sitting.
