Today is Safer Internet Day
A woman who's 21 year old daughter died by suicide after a campaign of online harassment is calling for new laws to be fast tracked.
'Coco's Law', which is named after Nicole Fox, would make cyber bullying a criminal offence and has passed its second stage in the Dail.
Her mother, Jackie Fox, has teamed up with the Gardai and phone network Eir today for Safer Internet Day.
From today, an information leaflet on the dangers of online abuse, which Jackie helped to compile, will be included with all Eir smartphones.
Jackie Fox says cyber bullying has to stop: 'People out there that are bullying, stop it, and stop it now because it destroys lives. Not only has it destroyed my little girl's life, they have taken her life away from me, but it's the after effect of what's left behind. We are devastated'.
