The Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture and Food is calling for a statutory code of conduct in the grocery good sector.
A new report - compiled by the cross party group - also wants legislation to force multi-national retailers to publish their profits.
The Committee says its concerned that large multiples appear to be exerting undue pressure on pricing on producers.
