Clive James - the Australian-born poet, critic and broadcaster - has died at the age of 80.
He was diagnosed with leukaemia ten years ago, but continued to work until last month.
His programmes - including Clive James on Television, featuring his witty commentary over TV clips from around the world - ran throughout the 80s and 90s.
In a statement, Mr James' agents said the writer died at his home in Cambridge on Sunday.
A private funeral attended by his family and close friends took place today.
United Agents said: "Clive died almost ten years after his first terminal diagnosis, and one month after he laid down his pen for the last time.
"He endured his ever-multiplying illnesses with patience and good humour, knowing until the last moment that he had experienced more than his fair share of this 'great, good world'."
