Creeslough Explosion Site Given Permission To Redevelop

Planning permission has been granted to redevelop a service station in Cresslough, Co Donegal.

It's the site where ten people lost their lives in an explosion more than two years ago.

Numerous objections were lodged to this controversial plan to redevelop the service station at Creeslough - including many objections from loved ones of the victims.

Despite this Donegal County Council has granted conditional planning permission to Vivo Shell Limited.

It includes plans for a shop, fuel pumps, off licence and post office.

It also includes plans for a memorial garden for the victims of the Creeslough tragedy.

But in a statement the solicitors representing the families say they will challenge the decision which they've called insensitive and morally bankrupt.

They say Donegal County Council has placed commercial and business interests above the rights of the families and they won't take the decision lying down.
