The Covid-19 wage subsidy scheme has been extended until August.
Minister for Finance Pashal Donohoe made the announcement this afternoon.
So far, more than 58,300 employers have registered for the scheme.
Over €1.37 billion has been paid out which has supported more than 514,700 workers.
Meanwhile, the pandemic unemployment payment is to continue until at least Phase 5 of the Roadmap for Re-opening Society and Business – currently scheduled for August 2020.
Around 545,000 thousand people were in receipt of the PUP this week.
From June 29th, a two-tier payment structure will come in to force:
- For those whose prior employment earnings were €200 per week or higher (about 75% of recipients), the PUP rate will remain at €350 per week;
- For those whose prior employment earnings were up to €199.99 per week (about 25% of recipients), the PUP rate will be €203 per week - the primary rate of payment of the Jobseeker’s Benefit scheme
