The exit poll of more than 5,000 people shows Fine Gael, Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil all on 22% support.
The RTÉ/Irish Time survey has the Greens on 7.9, Labour on 4.6, the Social Democrats on 3.4, Solidarity People Before Profit on 2.8 and Independents and others with 14.5 per cent of the vote.
It would lead to the most fractured Dáil in recent memory.
Sinn Féin will regret not running more candidates and on these numbers will take in the region of 30 seats.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil should be somewhere in the 40s.
But what it sets up is a fascinating battle for the final seats across the country.
People who thought themselves safe are no longer safe.
Candidates who hadn't a hope two weeks ago will suddenly be in the mix.
And some of the counts will take a long, long time.
