The cost of remedial works at dozens of schools with building defects has reached €40 Million.
Repairs are still being carried out at the schools built by Western Building Systems.
Around 40 schools around the country were identified as having structural defects following a review last year.
Remediation work has been completed at 14 of them - and is due to start on another 8 in the new year.
The Education Minister will tell the cabinet this morning the cost of the work so far is €40 Million.
That includes the cost for initial assessments of the schools, precautionary measures like scaffolding and fencing, repair works and fire safety upgrades.
The Irish Independent reports that a request for more funding won't be made at cabinet - with the money being taken out of the existing school building budget.
