The Department of Health has confirmed that 581 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Ireland today.
There are currently 52 people being treated in hospital for the virus.
There are 16 patients in intensive care, an increase of one person compared to yesterday.
The HSE continue to be affected by the recent cyberattack and the daily case figure “may change due to future data review, validation and update.”
Meanwhile, more than 55% of the adult population in Ireland are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the CEO of the HSE.
Paul Reid said that 70% of adults have had at least one dose of the inoculation, adding that there is "a big challenge ahead" with the virus.
There have been 275,000 doses of the vaccine administered so far this week.
It comes as the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said recent coronavirus figures are "a cause of concern" and indicate that the disease "is prevalent in our communities again".
“We know there is worry and frustration out there, particularly for young people who have had significant parts of their lives put on hold by this disease," he said yesterday.
"We ask if you are not yet vaccinated, to hold firm to the public health advice as you await your vaccine.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer added yesterday that concerns remain about the Delta variant but it won't stop the country emerging from the pandemic.
Dr Ronan Glynn said all the things we're already doing to protect ourselves from COVID-19 are just as effective as ever.
