There have been 576 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ireland today.
The five-day moving average of new cases has continued to rise and now stands at 581.
There are currently 58 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals, including 16 in ICU.
More than 70% of adults have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while over 55% are fully vaccinated.
Earlier, the Health Minister said just one fully vaccinated person has suffered a so-called “breakthrough” COVID-19 infection that put them in ICU in recent months.
That's out of 124 people who've been admitted to intensive care since April.
Although all COVID-19 vaccines have proven highly effective at preventing severe illness, there will be a small percentage of vaccinated people who still get sick and are hospitalised.
