Health officials have announced a further 378 COVID cases this evening.
Last night, there were 98 coronavirus patients in Irish hospitals – a 22.8% decrease on the same day last week.
There were 35 in intensive care – down 20.5% on last week.
It comes as the Tánaiste ruled out bringing forward the reopening of pubs and restaurants to prevent a repeat of the weekend’s street drinking scenes.
This evening, Leo Varadkar said there was a danger of a “bit of an over-reaction” to videos of people drinking in Dublin city Centre over the weekend.
It comes after the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said he was “absolutely shocked” at the scenes in the South William Street, which he labelled a “major open-air party.”
Meanwhile, the HSE Chief Clinical Officer Dr Colm Henry said the scenes “looked like V-day” and warned that COVID-19 "doesn't surrender.”
