There have been 364 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Republic today.
No further deaths have been reported.
Of today's cases, 42 were identified as community transmission.
100 of the cases were in Dublin, 55 in Cork, 31 in Donegal, 24 in Limerick, 23 in Galway,17 in Clare, 14 in Sligo, 13 in Roscommon, 10 in Kerry, eight in Tipperary, eight in Wicklow, seven in Kildare, six in Kilkenny, six in Offaly, five in Cavan, five in Mayo, five in Meath, with the remaining 27 cases in nine counties.
The total number of cases since the pandemic began now stands at 38,032.
Today's figures come after NPHET met this evening amid concern over the increasing COVID-19 numbers in recent days.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan, who has now returned to work.
While NPHET has been meeting today government sources saying at the moment it’s unlikely cabinet will consider their recommendations tonight. Decision will be tomorrow or Tuesday depending on urgency of the recommendation

Any recommendations NPHET makes are expected to be considered by Government tomorrow or Tuesday.
Latest figures have shown the nationwide COVID-19 incidence rate per 100,000 population has risen to 107.98.
As of this morning, there were 134 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals, with 22 confirmed cases in intensive care.
