Consumer Watchdog Has "Legitimate Concerns" Around Oasis Tickets

The consumer watchdog says "there are legitimate concerns" around the "experiences of buying" Oasis tickets at the weekend.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says it is reviewing the situation to ensure consumer protection law is followed.

Dynamic pricing was used by Ticketmaster and Oasis - which caused standing tickets costing more than €400.

It's lead to calls for a ban on the practice, and a demand on Ticketmaster to appear before an Oireachtas Committee.

Taoiseach Simon Harris says the Enterprise Minister is looking into it - and said Ticketmaster is a monopoly:

“If there’s actions government needs to take in terms of the future, let’s look at that, let’s take action in relation that.

“But I think there’s a bad taste in the mouths of people here in relation to pricing, surcharge, and we do have to be conscious we are dealing with a monopoly situation here as well.”
