A student website is apologising for the contents of an article on one night stands.
On Tuesday, CollegeTimes.ie, which describes itself as a national varsity website for good humoured Irish students and young adults, published the "One Night Stand Guide For Him" article.
The piece has been strongly criticised on social media sites including Twitter and Facebook.
The contents included a photograph of convicted murderer and rapist Josef Fritzl.
In a statement, CollegeTimes.ie says the "article was written by a woman to highlight, in a satirical fashion, behaviours that occur commonly within our society."
It adds the that piece was "based on the observations of a student."
The website, which deleted the article this morning, says it "never intended to offend" any of its readers.
CollegeTime.ie is also apologising to 7UP, for what it says was a "technical failure that allowed advertisements for the brand to appear alongside" the article.
It says it has now removed the brand from the particular section, and would like to make it clear that 7UP would never be associated with content of this type.
The National Women's Council of Ireland says the article is "completely unacceptable, particularly for a website that describes itself as a 'safe haven' for students."
The NCWI also says "women are not animals that can be hunted like prey."
