Coldplay performed on Grafton Street in Dublin city on Wednesday night ahead of their four sold out gigs this weekend.

Hundreds gathered at the top of Grafton Street at Stephen's Green after rumors tht the band would be making an appearance.

Coldplay due to take to the stage at 8.30pm, with concert organisers MCD advising people to be at the venue 45 minutes before the show starts.

Barry Kenny from Irish Rail is advising people to book their train tickets in advance.

"We will be operating the additional DART and commuter services both sides of the concert before and after, obviously serving Drumcondra directly on the Maynooth line in particular.

"We also have late night trains back to Cork where connections to Limerick after each of the concerts, but unfortunately those trains are aready sold out.

"We are expecting an extremely busy weekend, probably the last weekend of the big summer events.

"So if people are traveling on Intercity services, those long distance routes, we are urging people to book in advance no matter what your route is across this weekend.

"So whether you're traveling for Coldplay, any of the other events, or just for any other reason, plan your journey, book your ticket ahead, because trains are selling out and we do expect many trains to be sold out over the weekend".
