A Co Carlow butcher shop and restaurant in Dublin were issued with closure orders last month after cockroaches were seen on their premises.
Food Safety Authority officials found evidence of a cockroach infestation in the basement storage area of Govindas Restaurant, 83 Abbey Street Middle, Dublin 1 when it was inspected on July 26th.
Meanwhile, live cockroaches were seen in the storage area underneath the cold display unit at the Asian Grocery (Butcher Shop), Unit 3 Closh Business Park, Staplestown Road, Carlow.
6 other restaurants, cafes and takeaways were also found to be in breach of food safety rules last month.
Closure orders were issued to each of the businesses, which are located in Dublin, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Limerick, and Kildare.
In one instance, a bird was seen flying out of a kitchen through the back door.
