The Irish Coastguard responded to 72 incidents this weekend on waterways around the country.
A small number of the call outs were fishing related but the vast majority were leisure users who got into difficulty swimming or children who got lost on packed beaches.
The Coastguard says parents need to be more mindful of where their children are when playing on the beach.
Since the heatwave began over two weeks ago, 10 people have drowned in this country.
The high temperatures over the weekend drew large crowds to our beaches and inland waterways.
Many of those who got into difficulty were young children using inflatables or children who were lost
Declan Geoghan is Operations Manager with the Irish Coastguard he says people need to take more care.
