Clonakilty in West Cork has been named the best town in Ireland and the UK.
The town, with a population of around 5,000, beat Blackpool in North West England and Todmorden in West Yorkshire to the coveted Great Town prize at the 2017 Urbanism Awards in London
The judges praised the town’s local distinctiveness, tradition, entrepreneurialism and strong sense of local pride.
Clonakilty wasn't the only Irish winner on the night - Waterford’s Viking Triangle won The Great Place Award.
