Checks On Goods Between North And Britain To End

Checks on goods between Britain and the north are to end.

It's part of the deal to coax the DUP back to Stormont.

As part of the Windsor Framework - a so-called green lane was created which would check a percentage of items going between the Irish Sea.

However, that will be gone to - as the British Government says - ensure smooth flow of goods.

The red lane on goods going from Britain through the North into the EU will stay in place - which will check items.

These changes are expected to see the DUP end its two-year boycott of Stormont - and lead to the election of the first nationalist First Minister in Belfast.

It's understood the EU has been kept informed of the change.
