The Health Minister is being called on to clarify when he became aware about the latest CervicalCheck scandal.
It's after it emerged Simon Harris' office wrote to the woman who exposed the major IT glitch at a US lab a month before he says he knew about the issue.
The woman called 'Sharon' was contacted on June 6th requesting her details so Minister Harris' office could check them with the HSE.
Simon Harris says he only became aware of the full nature of the IT glitch affecting 800 women's smear test results last Wednesday.
Labour's Health Spokesman Alan Kelly says it raises serious questions:
"Either there was a greater knowledge in the Department of Health on this issue"
Or else there was something dysfunctional in the Department of Health
A rapid review's now been launched by the HSE to shed light on circumstances around what happened, and is due to report by August 2nd.
It will look into what that led to 800 women not receiving their results.
