Green Party Minister Catherine Martin believes there needs to be more clarity from Barry Cowen about the details of his drink driving ban.
The Agriculture Minister was put off the roads for a period for the offence in 2016.
He was travelling from Dublin to Offaly on a learner permit at the time.
The Sunday Times has reported that that Minister Cowen did a U-turn as he approached the Garda checkpoint.
Minister Cowen has denied claims that he was pursued by gardaí and the matter has been referred to GSOC.
Minister for Tourism and Deputy Green Party leader Catherine Martin says this needs to be cleared up:
"Alot of questions have arisen over the weekend and we definitely need further clarity on this."
"I can't really take a position until I get that clarity on what happened."
