The number of drink or needle-spiking cases reported to Gardai this year is already higher than in all of 2021.
New figures show there were 64 cases in the first nine months of this year, compared to 57 in all of last year.
Among those figures, the number of people who've had their drinks spiked has nearly doubled - with 40 so far this year.
Noeline Blackwell, CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, says the crime shouldn't be tolerated by anyone
"It is concerning because, when someone is spiking somebody else’s drink, what they are doing, really, is a form of poisoning," she said
"It is not funny; it is not a prank and it is really harmful. It is a serious criminal offence as well."
24 people reported being spiked with a needle from January to September.
