Carphone Warehouse has closed all of its stores in Ireland with immediate effect.
In a statement, the company says "it has made the difficult but necessary decision to close Carphone Warehouse in Ireland".
More than 400 jobs will be impacted by the move.
Carphone Warehouse says the decision has come as customers are changing the way they buy mobile devices and connectivity, replacing their handsets less often and buying them separately or as part of more flexible bundles.
It goes on to say that although the changes in behaviour were anticipated, they were expected to occur over a longer period of time but the change in shopping behaviours has been accelerated by the pandemic."
The decision to close immediately has come as footfall in stores is down significantly, Carphone Warehouse says it doesn't expect many customers to sign new contracts during the pandemic.
It says it will continue to help customers through its central customer support team.
If you have a voucher you won't be able to use it at Carphone Warehouse.
However, unused Carphone Warehouse vouchers can be swapped for use in Currys PC World.
