The controversial deal to bankroll new forests has been described as a "corporate heist".
A Dáil protest takes place today calling for an investment plan for Irish forests to be abandoned.
The protest takes place this afternoon, at the same time TDs will be inside Leinster House debating the country's forest strategy.
Coillte's link-up with UK asset management firm, Gresham House, will provide up to €200 million of the capital needed to create new forests.
The deal will see thousands of acres of new forestry planted, however, farmers say it amounts to a 'land grab' and should be scrapped.
People Before Profit TD, Richard Boyd-Barrett, is calling for the government to intervene to stop the arrangement.
"It's absolutely outrageous that, what is supposed to be a forestry company for the public, owned by the public is facilitating profiteering and a profit grab by international investment funds. It absolutely has to be shelved.
"For the government to sort of say 'it's nothing to do with us' is absolutely unacceptable.
"It's absolutely wrong in our opinion that the public forestry company and public funds are being used to facilitate what is a corporate takeover of vast swathes of land and forestry in this country by entities that are only interested in money and profit and not in developing sustainable forestry.
"It's not good for rural communities and not good for the public".
